*1 The Battle of Waterloo; Napoleon Bonaparte's last battle. A close-run thing, saved by rain that delayed Napoleon's attack the day before and only won thanks to the late arrival of the Prussian army.
The page reproduced here is a typewritten copy of the original diary and was made by Monty Trethowan, a local solicitor. The writing on the original is not clear enough to show here.
